General Guidelines

Although members of the general public are not generally knowledgeable to test and maintain sprinkler systems, here are a few general rules everyone should follow:

Never paint any fire sprinkler or any cover plate concealing a sprinkler. Per N. F. P. A. 13 and manufacturer's standards, requirements and guidelines - ALL PAINTED AND COATED SPRINKLERS SHALL BE REPLACED. This Does not include any paint or coatings that were applied by the manufacturer.

Never hang anything from any part of a fire sprinkler system.

Never stack items close to sprinklers. Maintain a minimum clearance of 18" below the sprinkler deflector to the top of any storage or obstruction. This keeps the spray patterns of the sprinklers clear and free to fight fires.

Always report damage to any part of a sprinkler system. Contact your licensed fire sprinkler contractor to  make the necessary repairs immediately.

Have your systems inspected annually by a certified - licensed inspector. Some states, insurance companies and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) require all fire protection system inspections to be performed more frequently.

NO WATER

MEANS

 NO PROTECTION

Closed Control Valves Are The #1 Cause Of Fire Sprinkler System Failure

ALWAYS MAKE SURE ALL SYSTEM CONTROL VALVES ARE SEALED IN THE OPEN POSITION!!
